Denmark returned to winning ways in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Challenge League A with a convincing 102-run victory over Kuwait at Nairobi Gymkhana Club Ground on Saturday, combining a competitive batting performance with a devastating spell from Saif Ahmad.
Having suffered a 103-run defeat against Kenya earlier in the round, Denmark responded with 274 for eight before bowling Kuwait out for 172 in 29.4 overs. The result was a significant response from a side looking to strengthen its position in the competition’s race for progression towards the 2027 Cricket World Cup.

Musa Shaheen and Shangeev Thanikaithasan were central to Denmark’s recovery with the bat. Shaheen scored 64 from 84 deliveries, striking eight fours and a six, while Thanikaithasan added an attacking 62 off 54 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Their contributions helped Denmark recover from a measured start and build momentum through the middle overs.
Taranjit Bharaj provided further impetus with 38 from 29 balls, including three sixes, as Denmark pushed towards 275. Kuwait’s Meet Bhavsar was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 52 runs from his 10 overs, while Anudeep Chenthamara took two wickets.
Kuwait appeared capable of mounting a challenge after Clinto Anto struck a rapid 52 from 27 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. Bhavsar added 36 from 39 deliveries, while Usmangani Patel contributed 31 from 29 balls. However, the innings lost direction once the early momentum faded.
Ahmad proved decisive, taking five wickets for just 20 runs in eight overs, including one maiden. His disciplined spell dismantled Kuwait’s middle and lower order, with the visitors losing their final seven wickets for just 54 runs. Lucky Ali Malik also claimed two wickets as Denmark completed a comprehensive victory.
The result came just two days after Kuwait had posted 331 for six against Qatar, only to lose by five wickets in a high-scoring contest. Against Denmark, Kuwait could not reproduce that batting resilience, highlighting the fine margins that continue to define the Challenge League A campaign.

For Denmark, Ahmad’s five-wicket haul and the contributions of Shaheen and Thanikaithasan offer encouragement as the competition continues in Nairobi. Kuwait, meanwhile, will need a stronger response with the bat after a defeat that followed their impressive run chase against Qatar.
With the Challenge League A providing an important route into the qualification structure for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, every result carries weight. Denmark’s victory restores momentum, while the remaining fixtures will continue to shape the contest among the competing sides.
