Cricket Kenya’s approach to growing the game is centred on creating sustainable pathways that enable people to discover cricket, participate meaningfully, develop their abilities and progress to competitive and international levels.
A continuous pathway
Grassroots and school cricket provide the entry points. Broad participation creates the foundation for talent identification, while coaching, domestic competition and structured progression give players the chance to advance and, ultimately, compete for national representation.
Seven areas of work
- Grassroots cricket: opportunities for communities and young people to discover the game.
- School and youth cricket: early pathways for young players to learn and progress.
- Women and girls’ cricket: more opportunities to participate, develop and compete at all levels.
- Player development: progression from grassroots to domestic competition and national selection.
- Domestic cricket: competitive structures where players test and showcase their skills.
- Coaching and officiating: developing the coaches, umpires and scorers who keep the game running.
- Partnerships and community: working with County Cricket Associations, clubs, schools, government and sponsors.
Cricket Kenya’s 19 affiliated County Cricket Associations deliver much of this work locally. To find out how to get involved as a player, coach, official or volunteer, visit the Pathway page or contact your county association.
